Image splitter for Instagram

Cut one photo into a seamless carousel or a profile grid. Pick the shape, drag to frame it, then download the pieces in posting order.

3 slides

How it works

The splitter crops your photo to the full shape of the layout, then cuts it into equal pieces. A 3-slide carousel in 4:5 is a 12:5 panorama cut in three; a 3 × 2 grid in 3:4 is a 9:8 frame cut in six. Every piece is exported at 1080 pixels wide, so the seams match.

Carousel

Post the pieces as one carousel, in order. Swiping reveals the photo piece by piece, and the edges line up from one slide to the next.

Profile grid

Post each piece as its own post, starting with 01. Your profile shows three posts per row with the newest at the top left, so the photo comes together once the last piece is up.

Questions

Is my photo uploaded anywhere?

No. The photo is cut by your browser, on your device. Nothing is sent to a server, and closing the page clears it.

What size are the pieces?

Every piece is 1080 pixels wide: 1080 × 1350 for 4:5, 1080 × 1080 for 1:1 and 1080 × 1440 for 3:4. Each one is saved as a high-quality JPEG.

How do I post a seamless carousel?

Create one post, select the pieces in order (01 first), and keep the same crop for all of them. Instagram uses one shape for every slide of a carousel, so the edges line up. A carousel can hold up to 20 slides.

Which shape should I pick for the grid?

Since January 2025, profiles show taller thumbnails, about 3:4. Pieces in 3:4 show in full on your profile; 4:5 and 1:1 pieces get their sides trimmed there, which breaks the seams.

Why does the grid start from the bottom right?

Your profile shows the newest post first, at the top left. So the last piece you post lands top left: post the pieces in the numbered order, starting with 01 at the bottom right.
